Stephen Speak is retiring!
It is with a heavy heart that I wish to announce my retirement from Meridian Veterinary Practice with effect from February 2019.
The Practice has been a huge part of my life for the past 32 years. I have worked with many fantastic people, both clients and Practice colleagues and had the privilege of helping to care for literally thousands of pets.
My first memory of the Practice was in 1987, the year of the hurricane when the roof of the Practice actually blew off! I remember turning up for work the following morning and not surprisingly there wasn’t much on! I went for a walk along the Promenade and couldn’t believe the sight of several cliff-top bungalows reduced to rubble by the wind. Well, the Practice roof went back on and over the years the Practice has metamorphosed from a fairly basic bungalow into a modern, well equipped, much larger building having had two separate extensions.
The Practice inevitably has become so much busier and it is important to recognise that the growth of the business has been the result of a massive team effort.
Meridian has never been about individuals but instead the combined hard work and dedication of the nursing team, the receptionists, the admin and management team and of course the vets.
Meridian is also about a wonderful and loyal bunch of clients, many of whom I have known since I first came.
Thank you for coming to us, after all, we wouldn’t be here without you!
I have so many happy memories and to all of you who have made my experience so satisfying and fulfilling, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude.
Here’s to the next 30 years – long live Meridian!
The whole of the Meridian team wishes Steve a very happy retirement. We have all enjoyed working with Steve, his care for his patients has always been exemplary and his ability to create a happy working environment has made it a pleasure to work here at Meridian.
We are looking forward to a new vet starting at Meridian. Katie Burfield starts on 17th December 2018. Katie was at Meridian for her Veterinary experience training so we are very excited to have her joining us full time.
